Congratulations to our pupils who participated, with great diplomacy, in the 11th Annual Session of the Mediterranean Model United Nations, taking on the roles of the Delegates of Iran and Jordan. The MUN Assembly was held at the European University in Nicosia between 5th-7th February 2016.
Topics in the General Assemblies ranged from ‘Preventing and Defusing a 21st Century Arms Race in Military Drones and Robots’, to discussions on the impact of climate change in low-lying coastal regions and the question of Gibraltar.
Head Girl, Stephanie Graban, was busy in the Security Council debating the situation in Yemen, combating the global threat of terrorism and more. Meanwhile, her counterpart, Head Boy Paolo Nizam, found himself playing President Putin in Special Event!
A special mention for Victoria Stephanyants for taking her resolution to the Plenary Session and to those who submitted resolutions to their General Assemblies.
It was, in short, a fantastic weekend. Foley’s School and, in particular, the MUN Directors, Mrs Nizam and Dr Fourouclas, would like to thank The English School Nicosia for inviting us to participate in MediMUN again and we certainly hope to return again next year!
