An important traditional event in Cyprus is ‘Tsiknopempti’, which this year fell on Thursday3rd March. ‘Tsikna’ is the smell of meat that cooks over a flame and ‘Pempti’ is Thurdsay. It is the 11th day before Green Monday, which is the official beginning of Lent. As in previous years, parents, teachers and pupils followed the tradition by preparing halloumi and sausages with salad in pitta bread for all to enjoy, raising €1,193 in the process.
