SUMMARY:Charity Sports Marathon
DESCRIPTION:With 100 participants, 8 teams, a diverse range of sporting events and 12 hours in which to complete them, this U6 Charity Event stretched and limbered itself up with a fantastic Yoga session given by ex-pupil Amira Kremers. This was followed by Alex Economides, another former Foley’s pupil, showing us the ropes, quite literally, with a team-building and fitness session. The day then lent itself to team sports and some fierce competition, followed by excellent displays in kick-boxing, fencing and Taekwondo, where all participants flung their arms, legs and fencing “canes” in disciplined imitation – huge thanks to Cicely Nagel, Ms Petevi, Sonja and Eva Aman and the kick-boxing professionals. We ran, we juggled, we hula-hooped and even bottle-flipped. Ending with a competitive dance-off and plenty of pizza, the Sports Marathon encapsulated the very spirit of a community working together to raise nearly €4,000 for charity.
