On 1st April 2015, 40 pupils from Forms 1 and 2 (accompanied by 6 members of staff) flew to Greece for a whirlwind tour of key historical sites. While based in the scenic coastal town of Nafplio for the first two days and nights, pupils explored the charming streets of the town (on foot and by mini-train) and visited the imposing bastion of Palamidi which overlooks the bay. They had great fun descending the 856 steps from the castle to the town. Only a short coach ride away and pupils could admire the amazing acoustics of the theatre at Epitavros and ramble over the ancient ruins of Mycenae.Athens also brought with it many wonderful memories: being jostled on the busy streets of Ermou; wandering through leafy Kolonaki; eating traditional gyros in Monastiraki; standing on Lykavitos watching the sun set over the city. A trip to Athens wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the stunning Acropolis and its amazing new museum.
