Each year, we open three Pre-Reception classes, which is our main entry point. Priority is given to children who have or have had siblings in the school and children of ex-pupils.
If your child’s application is considered for a place in our school, the Admissions Department will seek a confidential reference from your child’s current nursery and your child will be invited into school for their assessment session with the Primary Headteacher and Head of Early Years in February/March prior to the start of the academic year for which your child is applying for.
Children do not need to be fluent in the English language, but they will need to show cooperation, aptitude, be able to complete a series of activities set and display a readiness to access our curriculum at this stage, as assessed by the interviewers. If a child is not offered a place at this stage, his/her name may be placed on the waiting list in case a place becomes available in the future. Due to the high number of applications we receive, it is not possible for feedback or a report to be provided as to the reasons why a child has not been successful at the entrance assessment and not offered a place.
In Reception, a very small number of places may become available. The Admissions Department will invite children on the waiting list for this year group into school for an entrance assessment/interview and places will be offered to the successful candidates who will then join the children progressing from Pre-Reception. Children entering at this stage should be able to successfully complete a set of activities that they will undertake with the Head of Early Years in the assessment interview.
