Sports

Sport has always played an important role at Foley’s School, and the School benefits from outstanding sports facilities that support both curriculum lessons and extracurricular activities.

Multipurpose Pitch

The School has a state-of-the-art 5G astroturf multi-purpose pitch used for football, tag rugby, softball, field hockey and cricket. Foley’s School regularly competes in local and national competitions, and our teams have also competed internationally in football and cricket tournaments in Spain, Belgium, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic and Dubai.

Athletic Track

The 300m all-weather tartan running track, together with its surrounding facilities, offers excellent opportunities for a wide range of track and field events. It supports both training and competitive athletics, enabling pupils to develop their skills in sprinting, middle-distance running, and field disciplines. Our annual Sports Days are a highlight of the school calendar, where pupils showcase their athletic talents in front of up to 1,000 spectators.

Sports Hall

The large, spacious Sports Hall, with its sprung wooden floor, is used for a wide variety of indoor sports including basketball, unihockey, volleyball, netball, handball, and fitness activities. It serves as a key space for Physical Education lessons and is also used extensively for extracurricular activities.

In addition, the hall regularly hosts competitive, island-wide volleyball fixtures at weekends, making it an important venue for both school and interschool events. A digital scoreboard is installed, which is used during matches and competitions to enhance the experience for players, staff and spectators alike.

Indoor Gym

The Indoor Gym is a versatile space used for modified games and a wide range of fitness activities. Its sprung wooden flooring makes it especially well-suited for gymnastics and dance. With high-quality coaching in gymnastics, the School has developed an Intermediate Artistic Girls’ Gymnastics Squad that performs at various school events. The facility is also used for combat sports, including Jiu-Jitsu, further expanding the range of physical activities available to pupils.

Swimming Pool

Our 25-metre swimming pool, built to international short-course standards, serves as a dynamic hub for aquatic activity. It is used for swimming instruction, squad training, and both in-house and interschool galas. The facility also supports water polo training as part of the School’s extracurricular activities, offering pupils a well-rounded aquatic experience.

Netball Court

The School also has a dedicated outdoor netball court, providing pupils with a specialised space to develop their netball skills during lessons, training sessions and competitive matches.

Gym Training Space

The School also provides a gym training space, where pupils can develop strength and conditioning under the supervision of a qualified trainer.

Outdoor Gym

Our newly installed purpose-built outdoor gym area provides pupils with the opportunity to improve their strength, fitness and overall wellbeing in an open-air environment. Featuring a range of modern training equipment, it supports both standard and more challenging activities that promote strength, balance and cardiovascular fitness, while encouraging pupils to enjoy being active outdoors.

Auditorium

The Auditorium is a newly utilised space that hosts dance clubs in the afternoons. These sessions are led by a professional dance instructor, providing pupils with high-quality guidance and an engaging environment to develop their skills.
