Congratulations to the following pupils who will be receiving Edexcel High Achiever Awards for their results in the June 2016 external examination session. They received their awards at a ceremony at the St Raphael Hotel on December 15th. The Foley's School Swing Band also appeared at the reception after the ceremony to great acclaim!

Tour and workshop for Pre Reception parents

Tour and workshop for Pre Reception parents For four mornings in December the parents of our youngest pupils in the school, Pre Reception, were invited into School. After a talk given by Mrs Georghiou about the School, the parents were taken on a tour of the new premises and then visited their child/children in the Pre Reception classroom for a workshop. The pupils were excited to share their learning with their parent(s), by reading books together and showing them their work that they had completed over the term.

French Professor (and his robot) visits Foley's

On Friday 2nd December, Professor Pierre Vieyres from the University of Orleans visited Foley's to talk to the Sixth Form. Prof. Vieyre's talk covered the history of robotics, with a particular emphasis on medical robots. He brought along a robotic ultrasound scanner which he has been working on in collaboration with his colleague, Dr Soteris Avgousti, from the Cyprus University of Technology. The Sixth Formers had the chance to operate the robot which is designed for use in isolated locations, such as on board a spacecraft, and can be operated remotely via satellite communication or the internet. In pioneering experiments in 2003, a doctor in France performed an ultrasound scan on a patient in Cyprus using this robot!

Marching Band and Junior Choir entertain at Red Cross events

The school's Marching Band (in their new hats!) entertained visitors at Limassol Castle last Saturday at a Red Cross Christmas Charity event to raise money for families in need. On the same day, members of the Junior Choir sang at a Christmas Charity Fair in aid of the Red Cross Children's Theapy Centre.

Oleastro Olive Park and Museum Trip

On Thursday 3rd November, we visited the wonderful Oleastro Olive Park and Museum for our Topic work on Cyprus. When visiting the Park and Museum, we were able to see how an olive mill works to press olives and extract the olive oil that we use at home. We also got to try different types of olives, olive spread and delicious olive oil made from the mill.

A fantastic new addition to our Primary School playground are our two new ‘Wow Word’ walls. These are used for a variety of activities which aim to challenge the children’s literacy skills and increase their vocabulary. J3G couldn’t wait to get started and have been out for their writing lesson to research words that they didn’t know the meaning of!
