Art & Craft

Art and Craft is taught throughout the Primary School, where pupils enjoy a wide range of creative activities using clay, pastels, paint and natural materials. Lessons are often linked to the work of well-known artists, helping children explore different styles and techniques while developing their creativity and confidence. From the final year of Primary School (Prep), pupils transition smoothly into our Secondary School facilities, continuing their artistic journey in purpose-built studios.

In the Secondary School, pupils work in spacious, purpose-built studios equipped with specialist facilities, including a darkroom for photography, a kiln for ceramics, and printmaking facilities featuring a specialist professional etching press. Printmaking is fully incorporated into the KS3 and KS4 curriculum. These facilities allow pupils to explore a broader range of artistic techniques, including photography, printing and ceramics, while developing their practical and creative skills.

Our studios also include an art library and a multimedia section with computers and colour laser printers, supporting a broad range of creative techniques.

Pupils have the opportunity to create large-scale projects, including stage design sets for the annual School production, with all Secondary pupils contributing to the making process.

Pupils regularly participate in numerous local, national and international competitions, achieving top awards, including first-place positions in national competitions.

At the end of each academic year, the School proudly hosts an Art Exhibition showcasing the impressive work produced by our IGCSE and A Level pupils.

Art at Foley’s encourages creativity, curiosity and confidence at every stage of a pupil’s artistic journey, with pupils securing offers each year from some of the world’s top-ranked universities in Art & Design.
